Our meeting is designed to provide a safe space for trans and gender expansive folx to meet. Sadly there are not enough meetings which honor the unique intersections of recovery with gender identity and which feel safe. Simply lumping us in with the broader LGBTQIA+ community doesn’t honor our specific experiences.

This speaker/discussion meeting, which in time will be followed by more formats (book studies; steps & traditions, etc) throughout the week, is a space where we can share openly. Other AA meetings might not feel like safe spaces to get vulnerable about our identities, dysphoria, dysmorphia, stages of transition and our sex lives.

A Little Different

We honor the traditions and principles of AA, but also recognize the impact organized religion and oppressive systems have had on our lives.

We therefore celebrate the act and art of consensual communication. We encourage the decolonizing of inhibiting structures. We do not gender higher power. We note the sex positivity that makes us complete creatures. We allow topics that other AA members may consider “outside issues” to receive a space to be shared.

Rainbow Transformations maintains and moderates a safe space for trans and gender diverse people in recovery. We define recovery broadly to include those who are sober from drugs/alcohol or other behaviors (sex, love and gambling addictions), as well as in disordered eating recovery and working through self-harm issues.

Several members of the group with coaching or nursing certifications are available via DM for individual support.

People can use the space to chat openly about recovery, challenges, in-person and online meetings they go to etc.
